Residents move into Brooke Point Apartments

Thirty-eight of 39 units at the Brooke Pointe Apartments in Gibson are now occupied, according to the developer.

Peter Florey, principal owner of D&F Development Group LLC, said the final renter would move in next month, at which point the complex, at 100 Gibson Blvd., will host a formal grand opening.

Residents started moving into the apartments at the end of January, Florey said, mostly from the Valley Stream area. The majority of residents moved to Brooke Pointe from within a five-mile radius of the apartments. Most are under the age of 40 — though he said a few residents were “empty nesters.”

Florey also added that there is still a waiting list for the apartments that will be used when current residents move out of the building.

“Now that it’s built and folks can see what it looks like, there’s still a lot of interest,” he said.

Brooke Pointe is the third of four apartment complexes to be built in the village in the past decade. The Promenade, a new complex due to be built on Central Avenue, is still in the early stages of development. Mike Sullivan, the attorney for Kay Development, the developer for The Promenade, said that it was just only granted permits recently, and that construction would likely not begin for a while.
