The Valley Stream Village Board at its Oct. 15 board of trustees meeting scheduled a public hearing for 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Village Hall to address proposed changes to 14 separate local laws that affect issues ranging from elevator inspections, to public assembly and laws governing the storage and use of explosives in the village.

Mayor Ed Fare said the hearing was the last in a series of three as part of an effort intended to update portions of the village code that had not been touched in decades. The proposed changes would increase various fines and penalties associated with violating village laws, according to the meeting agenda.
