Chris Infantino, a Valley Stream South graduate, was honored at the Village of Valley Stream Board of Trustees meeting on Dec. 17 for winning the 2018 STATS Football Subdivision Championship Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is presented to an FCS student-athlete who excels in the classroom and the community.

Infantino, 23, is a graduate medical student at Stony Brook University and an offensive lineman for the Seawolves. He recently completed his final season at Stony Brook as the starting right tackle while pursuing a master’s degree and researching chronic traumatic encephaly, a disease that afflicts athletes who suffer from repeated brain trauma.

“Chris, to finish your college football career at the top of your game, while making inroads in research of a disease that afflicts so many football players must be particularly rewarding as well as extremely impressive,” Mayor Ed Fare said at the meeting.
