Nassau officials have released a list of upcoming projects for the Cedar Creek Sewage Treatment Plant.

The first, estimated for an October 2015 completion, includes fixes to the effluent disinfection system, outfall pumping controls, new tide gate structure, removal of effluent screens, and electrical work. Another job includes the external and internal rehabilitation of the digester gas spheres, replacement of various digester gas valves and installation of equipment to improve digester gas quality.

Next, there will be furnishing and installation of new grit tank mechanical equipment, air piping and valves. An addition to the existing influent screening building and furnishing and installation of new bar screens and plant equipment follows.

Next is the replacement of various electrical distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear and motor control centers. Then, the cleaning and internal rehab of nine existing digesters and the fixing and/or replacement of various sludge circulation pumps, heat exchangers, gas compressors and associated piping. This includes improvements to the effluent disinfection system, outfall pumping controls, new tide gate structure, removal of effluent screens and associated electrical work.

“While I’m happy these projects are moving forward, most of these projects were originally scheduled to be completed in 2011 and 2012,” Legis. David Denenberg, D-Merrick, said.

“Cedar Creek remains a major focus for County Executive Mangano,” County Spokesman Mike Martino added.
