The Wantagh Chamber of Commerce celebrated the many people who do good in the community at the annual installation dinner on Jan. 14 at the Riviera in Massapequa.

Following the installment of officers and trustees, the Chamber presented a series of awards. Heidi Felix, who recently wrapped up a two-year presidency of the Kiwanis Club, was selected at the Citizen of the Year. The Lions Club, which established a community picnic last year at Wantagh Park, an event that is expected to be held annually, was named the Organization of the Year.

Dr. Barbara Rosinsky, of Wantagh Woods Chiropractic & Wellness, was given the Beautification award for efforts in improving the outside of her business at Wantagh and Demott avenues. Larry Swanson, of Environmental Landscaping and Design, was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement award for his various efforts in sprucing spots around Wantagh, particularly Triangle Park.

Mitchell Rich received the President’s Choice award for helping to re-establish the chamber’s annual Snowball Run, which returned in December after a two-year absence.

Rich, an attorney, was sworn in as the financial secretary. He was joined by fellow officers President Chris Brown of Mid-Island Medical Supply, First Vice President Gregg Markin of Andy’s Luggage, Second Vice President Matt Levin of First Infinity Coverage Group, Corresponding Secretary Marlena Schein of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, and Recording Secretary Patrick Benot of Swift Life.

Trustees include Floyd Earl of Coldwell Banker, Laurie Erb of Drop N Lock, Les Kule of Friendly Software, Tony Parmar of Mathnasium, Ira Reiter of Merrick Dodge Chrysler Jeep, and Tom Splecia of The Nook.
