Plaza Theatrical Productions brings that delightful nanny to the stage, in a charming musical version of the popular story, opening this weekend. Based on P.L. Travers’ cherished stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney Film,”Mary Poppins” features the always delightful music and lyrics. Experience the enchanting mixture of the irresistible story and unforgettable songs that keep everyone humming long after they leave the performance. Believe in the magic of Mary Poppins and discover a world where anything can happen if you let it! East Rockaway’s Denis Murphy portrays Mr. Banks, the head of the Banks household, who tries to be a good provider, but often forgets how to be a good husband and father. A teacher at Kellenberg High School, he frequently performs in Plaza’s shows. Joseph Anthony, of Freeport, is also featured as the charismatic chimney sweep Bert.

Seal Observations
If it remains on your to-do list, there’s still time to see some of Long Island’s seal population, on a seal cruise offered by the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research & Preservation. Step into spring with an up-close look at these fascinating winter harbor seals throughout Hempstead Bay. Sail aboard the Captain Lou Fleet out of Freeport for a two hour cruise on the local waters. A naturalist is on hand to discuss biology and seal behavior and other marine life encountered, including the many sea gulls and other birds flying overhead.
