Girl Scouts recognized for service

The Seaford/Wantagh Girl Scout Association held its annual awards ceremony on June 18 at St. Frances de Chantal Church in Wantagh.

Ten girls from the communities received their Gold Awards, the highest honor in Girl Scouts. The recipients were Emily Festa, Samantha Roemer, Kelly Bender, Tazim Merchant, Rebecca Tredwell, Tatyanna Soliwoda, Julia Petrini, Nikoleta Mountanos, Kaitlyn von Runnen and Angelica Balitsos. Each completed a community service project.

Silver Award recipients were honored from Troops 3062, 3239, 3271 and 3275, and Bronze Award recipients from Troops 3121, 3133, 3364, 3435, 3458 and 3686.


The Girl Scout Association also honored 22 girls from Seaford and Wantagh who are graduating high school this year. Awards were presented by Heidi Felix and Mary VandenHeuvel, as well as county Legislators Steve Rhoads and Rose Walker.
