Letters to the Editor: East Rockaway, Lynbrook

It means a great deal to be recognized for the positive work I do each and every day with Supervisor Kate Murray and Town Clerk Nasrin Ahmad — especially by our hometown newspaper. Working together, Team Murray continues to provide outstanding municipal services for pennies on the tax dollar.
We recently passed our third consecutive tax-cut budget. Less than nine cents on the tax dollar, and less than one cent for village residents, come to the town. Our sensible budget practices have also earned us a triple A bond rating from Wall Street, and we’ve also been presented with the ninth straight Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the independent and non-partisan Government Financial Officers Association. It’s an unmatched record of success.
Our team is committed to helping homeowners fully recover from Hurricane Sandy. The town has waived fees for those rebuilding after the storm, stayed in communication with residents in Sandy’s aftermath and has begun rebuilding shore barriers to help mitigate flooding.
I look forward to continuing to represent each and every neighbor with the same responsive and personalized constituent services that are the hallmark of my tenure on the Town Board.

Law and order

To the Editor:
Tom Suozzi has made campaign statements that one of the first things he plans on doing if elected county executive would be to throw federal immigration inspectors out of the Nassau County jail.
So, that means that criminal aliens, including drug dealers and gang members, instead of being deported, which is authorized by federal law, would be released back into our communities to commit more crimes and threaten the well-being of Nassau residents? That is some law-and-order campaign platform!

Says Zapson is wrong about Mangano

To the Editor:
Sorry, Michael Zapson, Ed Mangano didn’t raise taxes, particularly residential property taxes, as you wrote in your column last week, “My new tax bill is through the roof.”
