Levittown students pledge to lead healthy lives

Posted

Students, parents and educators grabbed their sneakers and water bottles before heading down to the annual Levittown Education Against Destructive Decisions Walk and Community Fair on Oct. 30.

The Levittown School District takes in students from northern sections of Wantagh and Seaford. Officials explained that the LEADD event was the culmination of activities and assemblies that highlighted ways for community members of all ages to lead healthy lives.

Two student marshals — Katelyn Politi, from MacArthur High School, and Mike Stinnett, from Division Avenue —accompanied Grand Marshal Leo Vanderberg in the LEADD parade. Board of Education trustees, school administrators, leaders of community organizations and students and staff all participated in the march, outfitted with colorful banners.

“It is great to see so many faculty, students and community residents getting together to back this important program,” said Keith Snyder, the district’s director of physical education, health and athletics. “It is a wonderful community program.”

After the parade, participants filed into the Levittown Memorial Education Center gymnasium to visit informational booths and games.
