Nassau County Police say a man tried to lure a pair of 10-year-old girls into his car on Monday night in Wantagh.

According to 7th Squad detectives, the girls were walking on the sidewalk of Briard Street, near Stratford Road, at 5:40 p.m. when a car pulled alongside them. According to the police, the driver said to them, “C’mon girl, follow me.” He then continued to Manchester Road, made a U-Turn, and went back to the girls.

The driver got out of the car at Stratford Road and asked them, “Why are you running from me. Come with me now.” The girls ran to one of their homes and told a parent. They were not hurt.

The driver is described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, 5-foot-8, wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers. The car was a black sedan with black rims and tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS.
