Register for NY Rising before April 11

Residents whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Sandy are urged to register for the NY Rising Housing Recovery program.

The New York State Office of Storm Recovery (OSR) requires that homeowners affected by Sandy register and begin their claims by April 11. Required documents may be submitted after the deadline only in order to complete your claim.

State officials reported that homeowners who applied by Jan. 20 have been issued checks for reconstruction. At least 4,650 Nassau County residents have been issued payments more than $201 million.

These funds were made available through the State’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program, funded by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development.

These deadlines do not apply to homeowners who have already registered, are already in the program, in process of receiving their award, or those seeking clarification of their award.  Homeowners interested in applying may do so by April 11 by calling 1-855-697-7263 or visiting www.stormrecovery.ny.gov.
