Second TD Bank coming to Wantagh

Posted

TD Bank will open a second branch in Wantagh this fall. The newest TD Bank will be located on the southwest corner of Jerusalem Avenue and Wantagh Avenue, where a gas station once stood. The bank will be 2,500 square feet and provide parking for 19 cars.

Additionally, the building and the surrounding landscape will include “environmentally-friendly initiatives,” said Lisa Sawicki, corporate communications manager for TD Bank. “We will use native and adapted plants and high-efficiency irrigation.”

The project has also been given the green light by the Nassau County Planning Commission and the Town of Hempstead. “They have all their permits,” said Town of Hempstead spokeswoman Susie Trenkle-Pokalsky.

Sawicki said a traffic study was conducted and that the parking reflects what TD Bank feels is sufficient for this location. “We look at all our locations carefully and take all traffic details into consideration,” she said. “We make sure the traffic flow is sufficient for our customers and the surrounding area.”

TD Bank is one of the 10 largest banks in the United States with approximately 1,300 locations from Maine to Florida. The other TD Bank branch in Wantagh is located at the southwest corner of Sunrise Highway and Wantagh Avenue.

Hours of operation have not yet been determined. The TD Bank website says they are “open early, open late and we’re even open weekends.”

Sawicki said, “Hours at our stores vary and are tailored to the banking needs of the individual communities that we serve. We continue to have the longest hours in the markets we serve, including seven-day banking with extended hours.”

The bank is tentatively scheduled to open in October or November. “We look forward to providing residents with a truly unique and convenient place to bank,” Sawicki said.
