When should I restart my pet’s flea and tick medications?

Posted

A: You should NEVER have to restart flea, tick, and heartworm medication. This is a medication that your pet requires year round especially if living in the Long Island area. We just recently had beautiful spring like days in the month of February. There are fleas out there especially with the wildlife and stray populations. It’s amazing because I see a large amount of flea cases September through December specifically because families take their pet off flea medication thinking that the temperatures are cold enough to prevent fleas. The temperatures never do get that low for long, if they ever do. If you have a dog or cat you should be providing year round flea, tick, and heartworm medication.
