Best-selling author attends Rockville Centre library’s Summer Soirée

The Rockville Centre Public Library held their seventh annual Summer Soirée last week and invited a best-selling author to come party with them.

Roughly 140 people showed up at the library on Aug. 9 for raffles, refreshments and what the library’s program director, Sarah Siegel, called “fellowship and sharing amongst readers.”

Each year, the library holds a celebratory event for the adults from their reading program. “We have a lot of fun,” she noted, adding that the best part of the evening was a visit from a well-known author.

New York Times best-selling author Beatriz Williams, who wrote “The Summer Wives” — published last month — dropped by to talk about her style of writing, the methods she uses to hone her craft and how she became the historical fiction writer she is today.

“It was terrific,” Siegel said. “Anytime you get that many people on a hot August night, it’s successful.”
