Elmont house fire injures three

A house fire on Oakley Avenue resulted in injuries to a firefighter and two residents on Nov. 13.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, Arson and Bomb Squad officers responded to a house fire at 146 Oakley Ave. at 5:20 that night, and saw that the house was fully engulfed in flames and that the fire had spread to an adjacent home. Both the Elmont and Franklin Square fire departments responded to extinguish the fire, which caused extensive damage to both homes and injuries to a firefighter, a 70-year-old male resident and a 58-year-old female resident. They were transported to a local hospital, and are currently listed in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, and an investigation is ongoing.
