Five Towners honored at National Council of Young Israel gala in Queens

Cindy Grosz, was among the honorees and award winners at the National Council of Young Israel gala at Terrace on the Park in Flushing on March 15.

The Woodmere resident, who is involved in politics and fashion, was one of two people who received the Aishes Chayil (Woman of Valor) Award. She was recognized for her efforts supporting Israel and being an “education activist” the NCIY wrote in its website. The other was Helen Freedman, the co-executive director of Americans for a Safe Israel.

Also honored was Lawrence residents Morty and Rozi Davis and Michael and Susan Gross, active members of the Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst.
Founded in 1912, the National Council of Young Israel is a synagogue-based Orthodox Judaism organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., with a network of affiliated “Young Israel” synagogues across the country.

It offers professional advice and cost-saving initiatives to 135 Young Israel synagogues (and beyond), advocates for the interests and 25,000 member families, trains aspiring rabbis, and supports working rabbis.
