Mandalay Elementary School students were on the guest list for a historic White House Tea party that brought some of history’s greatest figures, such as Neil Armstrong and Cleopatra VII, together for a spot of tea.
As part of the district’s Writer’s Workshop program, students researched a famous or important person in history and wrote a biography on him or her. They then had to write a speech that the person would give if he or she had to describe their life and most important accomplishments.
After preparing these speeches, the students went into the tea party dressed in costume and orating to their peers and parents.
