Students perform classic tale of love and loss

Fifty Seaford Middle School actors and actresses performed the Disney film “Beauty and the Beast” in a musical production in twin performances on March 22 and 23.

The character of Belle was played by eighth-grader Raelyn Luft, while seventh-grader Brendan Murphy played the Beast, according to a district news release. In the supporting roles, Kieran Calderaro played Gaston; James Price appeared as LeFou; Kerry Wise as Lumiere; Emily Falletta as Cogsworth; Samantha Ferrara as Mrs. Potts; Hannah Polley as Chip; Skyler Munro as Babette; and Faith Schaefer played Madame de la Grande Bouche.

Familiar songs, such as “Belle” and “Be Our Guest,” were sung for the audience. Susan Steinberg directed the play, alongside musical director Barbara Sherwin, while Stephanie Lucia and Brian Heyanka led the stage crew.
