Peninsula Boulevard was shut down for hours on Feb. 27 after a white box truck jumped the center median and struck two oncoming cars, injuring 12 people, according to Rockville Centre police.

At around 2:02 p.m., the truck, which was heading northbound on Peninsula, swerved to avoid another vehicle and crossed over into the southbound lanes near Hempstead Lake. It collided with two oncoming vehicles, a Cadillac SUV and a Hyundai SUV.

There were nine occupants in the Cadillac and two in the Hyundai. Everyone involved in the crash was conscious and alert on the scene, but all required medical attention with non-serious injuries, according to police.
