Free summer lunches for children

The United States Department of Agriculture kicks off its annual Summer Food Service Program again this year, which supplies nutritious lunches for low-income children when school is not in session.

From 11-1 pm on Mondays through Fridays, free meals for children will be available at St. Paul’s AME Church in the Rockville Centre section of Lakeview, located at 453 Pershing Blvd. The program kicks off on July 5 and goes through August 26. The program at St. Paul’s AME Church is done in conjunction with Island Harvest.

This summer, the USDA plans to serve more than 200 million free meals to children 18 years and under at approved Summer Food Service Program sites.
