In Concert

Candy Dulfer
Dutch-born smooth jazz sensation Candy Dulfer brings her sizzling sounds to the area for an evening of memorable music. The alto saxophonist has earned a reputation as a high-energy performer with charisma and sex appeal to burn. With encouragment from her father, tenor saxophonist Hans Dulfer, she began performing at seven, fronted her own band (Funky Stuff) at 14, became an international recording artist at 19, and began touring the world at 20. Along the way, Dulfer has made scores of friends in high places. She appeared in the Prince video, “Partyman” in 1990, and played with him on the Graffiti Bridge soundtrack released that same year, and has toured with him frequently since the late ‘90s. Other collaborative partners have included Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Maceo Parker, Van Morrison, David Sanborn, Beyonce, Pink Floyd, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, and Blondie.
Saturday, April 12, 8 p.m. $40-$95. Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or www.madisontheatreny.org.
