The West Hempstead Westerners Drill team won the New York State Motorized Drill held in Main Transit, N.Y. for the first time since 1951. A total of 20 trophies for a variety of events were taken home by the Westerners. Events included a variety of hose, ladder and pump drills. The Westerners held a celebration at the firehouse upon their return with family and friends on Aug. 20.
