It’s time for that annual antique and collectible lovers paradise known as the Long Island Book & Ephemera Fair. The prestigious showcase of rare and vintage books and ephemera gathers exhibitors from across the nation. They’ll present a wide array of fine, rare and unusual old books, maps, posters, and prints, among other items. From the frivolous to the sublime, all sorts of treasures are offered from knowledgeable dealers eager to share their expertise.

The American Chamber Ensemble returns to Hofstra University this weekend to perform chamber masterworks for piano, woodwinds and strings. Hear Bohuslav Martinu’s Serenade: 2 clarinets, violin, viola and cello; Gabriel Faure’s Quartet No. 1, Op. 15: piano, violin, viola and cello; Ernst von Dohnanyi’s Sextet in C Major: piano, viola, viola, cello, clarinet and French horn. ACE Directors pianist Blanche Abram and clarinetist Naomi Drucker perform, with violinist Eriko Sato, violist Lois Martin and cellist Chris Finckel. Renowned clarinetist Stanley Drucker and Andrew Cooper on French horn join the ensemble as guest artists.
