W.H. school budget passed; board retains incumbents

West Hempstead residents voted favorably for the proposed 2016-17 school budget of $59 million, carrying with it a .59 percent spending decrease from last year, and a 1.96 percent increase in the school tax levy. Residents supported by budget by a vote of 870 to 544.

Karen Brohm, Patricia Greaves and Rudolf Schindler, all incumbents on the school board, were reelected to the school district’s Board of Education.

The results were as follows:

Karen Brohm (running unopposed): 1027 votes
Rudolf Schindler (running unopposed): 874 votes
Patricia Greaves: 951 votes
Steven Feldman: 399 votes
