On May 23, the West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund recognized six high school students with a scholarship award of $2,000 during its annual awards dinner at the Pompeii Restaurant. The evening celebrated the wholehearted service of these winners – including Brandon DeStasio Steven Trezza, Didier Jean-Michel, Alyssa Auerbach, Matthew Di Giovanni, and Emily Esposito, who was not present for the ceremony – before their families, classmates, teachers, community leaders and Board of Education members.

Among the festivities at the ceremony, guests were treated to music, courtesy of students from West Hempstead High School, and received raffle prizes donated by local businesses, clubs and organizations.

WHCSF is a non-profit organization that is supported by tax-deductible contributions from local businesses and organizations to fund annual scholarships. This year, the Trustees hosted several fundraising events in addition to the dinner.
