West Hempstead robbery sparks investigation

Nassau County police are investigating a robbery that occurred in West Hempstead on Sunday, in which a man was robbed of his cash and cell phone.

According to detectives, on Aug.12, around 1:51 a.m. three Hispanic men approached a 41-year old male victim in the rear parking lot of El Catracho Bar, at 78 Hempstead Turnpike.

One of the subjects produced a silver colored knife while another took approximately $80 in U.S. currency and an iPhone from the victim. The subjects were last observed walking west on Hempstead Turnpike. No injuries were reported, police said.

The subject with the knife was described to be approximately 30 years old, 5’ 8” tall, with black colored hair, wearing beige colored cargo shorts and a black colored shirt. The second subject was described to be approximately 30 years old, 5’ 5” tall, wearing blue colored jeans and a light colored shirt. The third subject was described to be approximately 30 years old wearing blue colored jeans and white colored sneakers.
