For more than 40 years, Rainbow Nursery & Landscaping has run the gamut in offering lawn and garden provisions. The nursery displays everything needed for a beautiful yard — flowers, vegetables, shrubs, trees, fertilizer, soils, peat moss, seeds, and a myriad of other supplies. But what sets them aside from a typical gardening center is the sale and repair of residential and commercial power yard equipment.

As the second generation of the family-owned business, Carmine Pizzirusso has modified the center’s direction. In 1970, Michael Pizzirusso (now retired) founded a small gardening center, which included a landscaping service. While that service is no longer offered by Rainbow, if a customer needs it, referrals will be given for trustworthy and professional landscapers.

Equipment sold at Rainbow is all gas operated; nothing electric. Mowers are either the push-type or self-propelled (has a transmission, moves by itself, the user just guides it). Rainbow carries many models of each, as well as weed eaters, string trimmers, chainsaws, pressure washers, generators and snow blowers. Brands include Toro, Redmax, Bobcat, Kipor, Husqvarna, Briggs & Stratton, Power Trim, and Honda. Rainbow Nursery & Landscaping is an authorized repair dealer, which includes warrantee work.

When purchasing equipment, Rainbow’s expert technicians will assemble it for you, start it, and answer any questions you might have. “People should be educated in what they purchase and own, listen to advice, and do things right from the beginning. Don’t leave equipment outside to be ruined by the weather,” Carmine Pizzirusso said.

An annual tune up is recommended for a mower, it will last longer. Tune ups, and repairs, if needed, can include changing oil, filters, spark plugs, blade sharpening, and replacement parts. All kinds of equipment can be serviced, including small engines.

Have a lawn mower that no longer works? Before tossing it, bring it in to the engine repair experts at Rainbow. It might even be restored to its original condition. Business hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
