Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently elected 20 new Board of Directors for the 2018-20 term during its 53rd annual meeting. The panel of board members includes Bonnie Porzio, Esq. as a member-at-large. Porzio, of West Hempstead, will serve the mission of providing leadership, innovation and constant support to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Council. The new board consists of lifelong Girl Scouts, community leaders, nonprofit and corporative executives, and many other board veterans.

“I am pleased to welcome many of our past board members, as well as several new individuals, all of whom bring a wealth of experience in their fields,” said Wanda Jackson, the president of the GSNC’s Board of Directors. “This fantastic group of leaders will continue our organization’s mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character while making the world a better place throughout Nassau County.”

Porzio previously served two terms on the board, is a member of the Human Resources Committee and actively supports the council’s fundraising efforts. Porzio previously served as members of both the Fund Development and Council Nominating Committees.

In addition, Porzio provides legal advice to the board where she can, most recently regarding the construction of the new Service Center. Porzio co-chaired GSNC’s committee for the concession stand at the U.S. Open and was as a member of the Corporate Committee for the First Annual “Girls Go the Distance” Walkathon.

Porzio is General Counsel for Triumph Construction Corp., a multimillion-dollar construction company in New York. She graduated from Hofstra University School of Law, and was the former president of the St. Thomas the Apostle School Board and past president of their Parents’ Club.

She lives with her husband Josh, and has two children, Reilly and Aidan. Porzio enjoys fundraising, volunteering, traveling and working with children and animals.
