West Hempstead students honor Board of Ed.

Posted

Students from throughout the West Hempstead School District paid tribute to all members of the Board of Education during a Oct. 15 board meeting at West Hempstead Middle School.
After the Pledge of Allegiance and a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by West Hempstead High School chorus and orchestra members, students lined the front of the room to read some special words to honor the board during Board of Education Recognition Month. Students in grades kindergarten through 12 also created thank-you posters for each individual board member, as well as posters for the board as a whole.
Once the reading portion was complete, those who took part presented each board member with a gift bag, which included a mouse pad covered in artwork from students representing each district building and an array of sweets with inspirational messages on the containing bags.
The high school chorus and orchestra took center stage once more as they performed the school’s alma mater song.
