Shevi Cohen, of West Hempstead, from the Shoshana chapter, was among the seven women that were recognized for their service to AMIT at the greater Long Island Gala at the Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst on Tuesday.
AMIT is considered the No. 1 educational network in Israel by the Jewish state’s Education Ministry. The organization offers Jewish values–based education to more than 34,000 children across Israel.
The Long Island Gala is co-chaired by Debby Gage, along with Betty Atlas Rumelt, Iris Feldman, Debby Gage, Brenda Kalter, Rise Kaufmann, Reva Kirshblum, Faye Krawitz, Zipporah Marans, Barbara Nordlicht, Esther Press, Sami Schindelheim and Sharon Weisel.
All proceeds from the gala will benefit AMIT’s educational network of 110 schools and programs.
