W.H. man surrenders after robbery

A West Hempstead man was arrested after he surrendered to police for a robbery in Garden City Park last month.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, Kevin Arenas, 23, was carrying a knife when he entered the Twin Parks Pharmacy 2226 Jericho Tpke. in Garden City Park on July 5.

He approached the pharmacist and demanded the painkiller oxycontin. The pharmacist complied, and the subject fled with an undetermined amount of prescription pills. One other employee was in the pharmacy during the robbery, but no customers were present. No injuries were reported.

Arenas is charged with robbery and was scheduled for arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 2.
