Nassau County is launching a new community celebration this Friday, May 16, called “516 Day.” This countywide initiative aims to support local businesses and encourage residents to explore their communities' diverse offerings.
516 Day is a brand-new celebration of everything that makes Long Island and Nassau County great,” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said in a news release. “It’s a time to commemorate our amazing small businesses, tight-knit communities and vibrant attractions and amenities. Our residents take pride in knowing that we are the safest county in America, one of the healthiest counties in the nation and the best place to live in all of New York. Whether you’re a long-time local or just visiting for the day, I encourage you to explore everything Nassau County has to offer and take part in this exciting new tradition.”
Green Acres Mall is taking part in the celebration. Shoppers visiting the mall can expect in-store promotions, giveaways, and a themed gift-with-purchase for those who spend $51.60 or more at any retailer, while supplies last. A live 516 trivia game show will be held at the mall between 2 and 6 p.m.
“Green Acres is proud to be part of the inaugural 516 Day—a celebration of everything that makes Nassau County unique,” Jill Bromberg, Community Relations Manager at Green Acres, said in the release. “As a longstanding member of this community, we remain committed to fostering meaningful connections with our local neighborhoods. We look forward to welcoming shoppers for a day filled with connection, celebration, and local pride.”
516 Day is part of a broader effort by Nassau County officials to highlight the area’s diverse business community and encourage greater public engagement. Businesses across the county were invited to create 516-themed promotions for the day. In return, participating locations are being featured on NassauCountyTourism.com and through official county social media channels.
