PTA Council celebrates Founders Day 2021 and 2022

Members of the East Meadow Parent Teacher Association and the East Meadow PTA Council once again got all dressed up for a night out at Leonard’s Palazzo in Great Neck on May 10 for Founders Day 2021 and 2022.

The room was filled with double the excitement as everyone anticipated the celebration of two years worth of honorees. Founders Day s celebrated to commemorate the founding of the PTA and to recognize those who make the PTA and its activities possible.

The theme of the evening: each of us a single note, together we are in harmony.

“Each of our honorees has individually contributed to the success of our PTA’s, schools, community and district as a single note,” PTA Council President Donna Goldstein said. “The outcome has been a harmony that has led to them being honored tonight.”

The East Meadow High School String Ensemble delighted the attendees with festive music during the cocktail hour. The welcome remarks were given by Goldstein with speeches given by Brandon Wanatick and Nicholas Espinosa, the valedictorians of East Meadow High School and W.T. Clarke High School, respectively.

Superintendent Kenneth Card spoke of the two valedictorians speeches and said that they “represent the best of East Meadow,” and that they “articulate why great happens here.”

“It’s wonderful to be back in person and to see so many here this evening,” Card said to the crowd. “Parents, teachers, community leaders and members going together to celebrate the founding of the PTA, to share our hopes and dreams for our children and to honor some of those individuals who make those dreams happen.”

Goldstein announced the honorees for 2021 and 2022.  Each honoree was brought up to the podium to light a candle to signify all that they do for the children of the community.
