A grand opening for Great Northern Mortgage in Lynbrook

A new mortgage office was unveiled in Lynbrook on June 9 as a ribbon cutting was held for Great Northern Mortgage Corporation, on 129 Broadway.

Elected officials and Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce representatives gathered to welcome 54-year-old business owner Igor Noble to the Lynbrook community. Noble, who is from Russia, began his path in the mortgage business in 1994 in Hewlett, where he lives.

“Living over here for so many years, it’s kind of my second town,” he said of Lynbrook.

Noble got into the mortgage business after he started as an attorney, but quickly transitioned into the home-selling path.

“I practiced for two, three years, and I did some corporate and immigration law, but I saw how much money people make in real estate, as real estate brokers and mortgage brokers,” he said. “I decided to open this company and I never looked back.”

While Noble has lived in the community for many years, it was the Covid-19 pandemic that pushed him to move his office closer to his home in Hewlett Harbor, after working in Manhattan for many years.

“I had an office in Times Square, and it’s an hour and a half commute,” he said. “It wasn’t a big decision to move after Covid came because it was a little bit discouraging to go to the city at that time. We decided to find a place over here. We purchased the building, we renovated it completely and now we’re here.”

With the new office opened, Noble said he wants the community to know that Great Northern Mortgage’s doors are open to help those in Lynbrook, Hewlett and anywhere else.

“I’ve got to be in both towns, so that we can help them both,” he said. “There are a lot of organizations that donate money to make sure that we help everyone. I want people to know that we’re here and we’re here to help a lot of people in my community get into their houses.”

He added that his company is specialized to help first-time homebuyers and in the past 20 years, it has helped 3,000 people, and that he’s had so many satisfied customers that roughly one-third of his business comes from past clients.

With the opening of his new office, Noble said he sees a path to success.

“I think it’s going to be a very bright future, especially for happy people,” he said. “The slogan of my company is to deal with happiness. It’s all about making people happy and changes in people’s lives.

“We’ve helped so many people and it’s a real honor to change lives and help people who couldn’t even get a mortgage from regular banks and help them get a house.
