With the votes tallied, Mayor Robert Kennedy of Freeport has won out over challenger Tamaria Pedlar for another four-year term.

Kennedy garnered approximately 1595 votes to Pedlar's 203.

The mayor, originally elected in 2013, has had a tenure marked by the prioritization of economic development, touting a steady tax rate which he attributes to grant-seeking efforts by the village and unorthodox means of bringing in revenue such as the development of properties such as the Moxey-Rigby.

In the race for village justice, incumbent Vincent Cacciatore won re-election for a four-year term over challenger Marc Strauss, a graduate of Hofstra University law school and specializes in family law.

Unofficially Cacciatore's vote count came out to 1529 to Strauss's 258.

Village Trustee Evette Sanchez ran unopposed, racking in an approximate total of 1547 votes, as did Jacques Butler with 1629 votes.

"The Mayor would like to thank the residents of the Village for their continued support," said Kennedy's campaign manager and Village Attorney Howard Colton over text message.

"Without them, this victory could not happen," he added.

The election's results will be certified tomorrow at the village's Board of Trustees meeting at Village Hall at 5:30p.m.
