Lynbrook firefighters remember the fallen

Before Lynbrook’s Memorial Day Parade on May 31, members of the Lynbrook Fire Department, junior firefighters and the Ladies Auxiliary gathered at the LFD memorial on Sunrise Highway and Earl Avenue to remember four Lynbrook volunterers who were killed in combat during World War II.

Two of the firefighters who died were from Truck Company, while the other two were from Hose Company. Fire Chief John Donald, First Assistant Chief Chris Kelly, Second Assistant Chief Danny Ambrosio and Third Assistant Chief Scott Bien paid their respects at the memorial.

Additionally, members of LFD’s Tally-Ho Engine 3 placed a wreath at the village’s Doughboy Monument to remember former Tally-Ho Capt. Jeff Wiener, who was killed in Iraq in 2005 while serving as a Navy corpsman.
