It was reported that dozens of cars were vandalized and possibly one vehicle was stolen across Atlantic Beach village and into the Estates area on Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Village Mayor George Pappas confirmed the incidents with an email to residents on Nov. 17.

“I would like to bring to your attention that the last few days vehicles have been broken into throughout Atlantic Beach,” he stated. “The 4th Precinct has been advised and I would like to remind you to always lock your car doors.”

Pappas also noted the recurring problem of motorists exceeding the set speed limit on Park Street the primary road in Atlantic Beach.

“I would also like to take this time to ask all residents of be mindful of the 25mph speed limit on Park Street,” he stated. “We as the residents of Atlantic Beach can set the example by going the speed limit. I have had conversations with the sergeant at the 4th Precinct and we have been getting extra enforcement this last week. Slowing down saves lives.”
