The holiday season was welcomed into the Five Towns with hot chocolate, cookies, bubbles, music, Batman and a visit from Santa Claus as the Christmas tree was lit on Dec. 8 at Veterans Memorial Triangle at the intersection of Broadway and West Broadway in Hewlett.
Organized by the Hewlett-Woodmere Business Association and other local groups, the tree lighting has become an annual staple of the community events calendar. Next up: the menorah lighting at 6 p.m. on Dec. 22, the first night of Hanukkah. More hot chocolate, cookies, chocolate gelt, dreidels and music.
