Five Towners named to Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center board

A pair of Five Towns residents were named to the reconstituted Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center board.

Ronald Brunell, from Woodmere, is a managing principal at The Signature B&B companies. His skills are in demand as recently he was also asked to join the Plattsburgh College Foundation Board of Directors. Next year, he will be the chairman of the Applied Client Network, a national agency automation users group. Brunell has also served on and continues to serve on multiple insurance company agency councils. 

In 1989, he received his certified insurance counselor designation, and has been president of IIA Queens and King counties and the downstate Insurance Council. Brunell is chair-elect of the Big I of NY. He earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh State and did graduate work at Ithaca College.

Hewlett resident Keith Gutstein is a lawyer with a focus in labor and employment law on behalf of management and employment practices liability. He counsels clients on issues that result between employers and employees ranging from discrimination and harassment to wages and workplace regulations. 

Gutstein is also very familiar with the many federal and state employment laws arising from the coronavirus pandemic, including addressing issues and planning for the return of employees to the workplace. A lifelong Long Islander, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and pledges allegiance to the Tar Heels.   

Also on the board is new chairwoman Andrea Bolender and co-Vice Chairs Robert Fishman and Jolanta Zamecka.  

For more than 25 years the  Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center, at Welwyn Preserve, 100 Crescent Beach Road, Glen Cove, has worked to teach the history of the Holocaust and its lessons through education and community outreach.
