In the villages of Atlantic Beach, Lawrence, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Bay Park, and Woodsburgh, 17 candidates, five mayors, 13 trustees and two village justices ran unopposed for re-election, retained their board seats and gained another two-year term on Election Day Tuesday.
Atlantic Beach Mayor George Pappas collected 211 votes, Trustee Linda Baessler garnered 188 and Trustee Edward received 186. There were two write-in votes for mayor and five for trustee.
"I want to thank the residents of Atlantic Beach for the great support in an unopposed election," Pappas posted on a Facebook. "I look forward to serving the village of Atlantic Beach for the next two years. We had a great turnout tonight."
In Lawrence, Mayor Alex Edelman and Trustee Paris Popack both received 243 votes, and Trustee Eliezer Kutner got 237.
In Hewlett Harbor, for two-year terms, Mayor Mark Weiss received 193 votes, Trustee Thomas Cohen received 175 votes and Trustee Kenneth Kornblau got 187.
Hewlett Bay ParkMayor Alex Salomon received 15 votes, Trustee Gail Rubel got 14 and Trustee Antonio Olivero got 14. For a one-year, Trustee Renee Zylberberg got 14 votes and for a four-year, Village Justice Stephanie Kaufman got 13.
In Hewlett Neck, for a two-year, Mayor Ross Epstein had 26 votes, Trustee Moche Blinder had 28 and Trustee Aron Schnell had 24. For a four-year, Village Justice Brett Cooper got 23.
In Woodsburgh, for two-year terms, Trustee Carl Cayne had 15 votes and Trustee Shira Hoshander had 27 votes.
