Talking about coronavirus in Hewlett

Posted

The Chabad of Hewlett hosted Rabbi Eliyahu Rosenberg, a distinguished rabbinical leader from Guangzhou, China, on Feb. 11. In the Hebrew Speakers meeting, they spoke about the recent epidemic outbreak in China that has devastated the entire country, and Rosenberg’s efforts to help alleviate the situation.

The coronavirus, Covid-19, started in China’s Wuhan province and has gone global. Across the world, there have been 1.873 confirmed deaths as of press time. It is a group of illnesses that vary from common cold to fever. People and animals can also carry it. The disease has affected more than 20 countries.

Rosenberg works with Magen David Adom, an organization that serves as Israel’s paramedic service, aids in disaster relief and partners with the Red Cross. Magen David Adom is working to send supplies and to mitigate the spread of the virus. “… supplies will be distributed to all Israelis and Jews in China, as well as the Chinese, who are so helpful and supportive of us,” Magen David Adom officials said.
