Elmont man arrested for robbery

An Elmont man was arrested in connection with a robbery on March 23, Nassau County police report.

According to detectives, an 18-year-old male victim used social media to arrange a meeting with Rocco Franklyn, 20, of Elmont. When the victim arrived at Franklyn’s house, on Caroline Avenue, police said, Franklyn entered the victim’s car and displayed a knife, placing it against the victim’s neck. Franklyn then allegedly took a cellular phone, a substance believed to be marijuana, a disposable vape and an undisclosed amount of money, before fleeing the scene.

He was located a short time later, police said, and placed under arrest.

Franklyn is charged with robbery in the first-degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth-degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on March 24.
