Malverne students collect bottles to end water crisis

Posted

Students from Malverne’s Howard T. Herber Middle School are redeeming used water bottles to donate money that will bring fresh water to communities in need throughout the world.

Since the start of this ongoing campaign, nearly 1,000 bottles have been collected.  Donations are made to the Thirst Project, a nonprofit organization that engages young people to help end the global water crisis.  All of the money raised by the Thirst Project through public donations is used to build freshwater wells in developing communities that need safe, clean drinking water.

Students, families, and the community are encouraged to bring their used recyclable water bottles to Howard T. Herber Middle School and deposit them in the blue Thirst Project receptacles located around the school.
