New Hyde Park Memorial High School’s Model United Nations team attended the Yale University Model United Nations Conference from Jan. 23-25, winning 16 individual awards during the competition. According to a news release about the event, the team demonstrated excellence in global diplomacy and leadership, achieving remarkable success.
Students competed against other Model UN teams from across the nation, the news release said, and were challenged to engage in thoughtful debates, draft resolutions and navigate complex international topics.
Among their individual awards, the team received the Outstanding Large Delegation Award. The news release said this achievement underscored the collective effort and collaboration of the entire team.
Model UN Adviser Jonathan Novak said that this is the sixth time in the past seven conferences that the school’s team achieved this award, and it’s their second delegation award for this year.
