Students at John Street School in Franklin Square ran a lemonade stand fundraiser in September and raised over $3,000 for a local family in need, according to a statement released by the Franklin Square Union Free School District.

The students were commended by staff during the school district’s Board of Education meeting on Nov. 3.

“We are so proud of them and thank them for choosing to make a difference in our community,” said Superintendent Jared Bloom, who presented each student with a certificate commending their actions.
