In observance of March as Women’s History Month, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé honored four outstanding women for their contributions to the community and their steadfast commitment to the Fifth Legislative District.

Throughout the month, Mulé presented county citations to women who made a significant impact in their community through their activism, education, leadership and work in law enforcement.

Honorees included Freeport Police Department Community Affairs Officer Donnetta Cumberbatch; South Hempstead Civic Association President Laura Mallay; Baldwin Board of Education President Susan Cools; and 9/11 civilian responder and veterans and community advocate Meta J. Mereday.

“In their own distinctive ways, each of these outstanding women is making a tremendously positive impact upon our community and paving the way for a new generation of influential leaders in our society,” Mulé stated in a news release. “It was truly a privilege to spotlight Officer Cumberbatch, Laura, Susan, and Meta during Women’s History Month and thank them for all they do on a daily basis to make our community a better place.”
