Levi Yitzchak Family Center & Library officials said that the facility on Central Avenue in Cedarhurst was vandalized on May 30.

Chanie Wolowik stated on Facebook that, “the perpetrator did thousands of dollars of damage with deliberate intent.” She added that, “We are working closely with the detectives at the Nassau County police dept. to identify this man.”

The library is named for Levi Yitzchak, who was 9 when he died. Described as a “child who shared his zest for life with everyone he met.” He enjoyed reading many types of books and wrote his own stories. A typical boy he played baseball, hockey and other sports.

Designed to engage families with a vast selection of books, multimedia activities and creative outlets that represent traditional Jewish values, the library aims to be a community jewel that inspires visitors to join together, in a welcoming environment to discover and learn. It is for children, teenagers and adults

To donate to help cover the cost of the damage, go to www.lylibrary.org/donate.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone into the library in the near future,!” Wolowik posted.
