A fatal accident claimed the life of a woman in Freeport on Nov. 27.
Police report that at 6:58 p.m., Lourdes Sulfa Sanchez, 51, of Lindenhurst, was attempting to cross Merrick Road near Henry Street, moving from north to south, when she was struck by a car.
Sanchez suffered severe trauma to her head and body and was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:33 p.m..
The driver of the vehicle, a 62-year-old man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The investigation is ongoing.
