The Nassau County Department of Health has issued a warning about possible hepatitis A exposure at the Jersey Mike’s Subs located at 24 Atlantic Ave. in Oceanside.
Officials confirmed Friday that a food handler at the restaurant tested positive for the hepatitis A virus. Individuals who ate food or beverages prepared on-site—or used the restrooms—between April 5 and April 19 may have been exposed.
While the risk of transmission is considered low, health officials urge anyone who visited the restaurant during that timeframe to contact their health care provider as a precaution.
A call center has been set up for more information. It will operate at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. this weekend at 516-227-9651.
