NCPD visits Bowling Green students

Posted

Students in Meagan Keller’s third-grade class at Bowling Green Elementary School, showed their appreciation for their local police officers by writing them letters that they delivered on Sept. 11, Patriot’s Day.

In response, members of the Nassau County Police Department’s Mounted Unit visited the school, in the East Meadow School District, on Nov. 13.

Officers Padilla, Morris, Tornetta and Marsh rode their horses onto the school’s front lawn to greet the excited students. The third graders were taught about the horses and explained how the officers became part of the mounted unit. It was a day of gratitude and education among the students and police officers. Students were even given a chance to pet the horses.
